Jack worked as an aerobics instructor during the early 1980s (yep, the Jane Fonda era), and as a dancer in music theatre both in Australia and the United Kingdom in the 1980s and 1990s. Following a five-year stint in Japan, where he studied classical Japanese dance, Jack worked as a Drama and English language educator (Trinity College University of Melbourne) and as an academic (his PhD was on the Embodied Performance of Gender). More recently Pilates and Yoga have become Jack’s preferred modes of physical fitness. His focus as a Pilates instructor is on correct alignment and technique as key to a resilient, reliable, and healthy body.
