Getting started
All you need to know before your first class
What is barre?
Barre is a full body workout that is based on ballet, but includes movements from Pilates, fitness and even yoga.
It is a class that works the entire body, building endurance in your muscles. It will also get your heart rate up and can literally keep you on your toes!
What do I need to bring to a barre class?
A sweat towel, a water bottle and comfortable, fitted clothing.
You’ll be barefoot or in grip socks, which can be purchased at reception.
How long is a barre class?
All barre classes run for 45 minutes.
Essentials Courses run for 60 minutes and are the ideal introduction for anyone new to the programme.
Can I do barre if I’m pregnant?
Barre is not recommended during pregnancy, due to the pace and nature of the movements.
Please speak with reception about other suitable class options.
Can I do barre if I have a injury/illness?
Our member’s safety is our main priority. Always listen to your body. If you are unwell it may be best to stay home to avoid spreading any illness to others.
If you have an injury, always let your instructor know at the beginning of class and make sure you stop exercising if something doesn’t feel right.
Some injuries may require medical clearance from a practitioner before you can continue to attend class.
