    Back to Basics: How To Get Your Pilates Technique Right

Your breath will accompany each movement and helps with the correct activation of your muscles. In Pilates, the focus is on lateral breathing where you draw the breath down into the side of your ribs rather than your lower stomach.

    Work at your own level:

    When you begin your Pilates journey and notice the positive changes that come with regular practice, many people try to progress too quickly into more advanced exercises during their classes. Remember that it’s essential that you get your basic technique right before you start the more challenging modifications. Work at your own level and start slowly with the more difficult exercises – you can always drop back down to an easier modification if you find that your technique is suffering.

They’ll be able to take a look at your technique and give you tips for perfecting your practice.
