After such a long build up to the festive season and the anticipation of a much awaited holiday, it’s understandable that you often find yourself in a post-holiday slump when you head back to work and reality. So how can get out of the rut and get back into things? Today, we’ll look at ways you can combat the dreaded post-holiday blues (with a little extra help from a yoga class in Melbourne!).

    Take it easy on yourself

Firstly, it’s important that you allow yourself some space to feel the disappointment of your holidays coming to an end. It’s a normal experience to feel down after the festive season so be gentle on yourself. You don’t need to skip into work full of energy  – in fact, if you ask others around you how they’re feeling you’ll probably find a lot of people in the same boat!

    Find activities you enjoy

After having a great time on holidays, it can make your normal life feel a little unfulfilling for a period of time. Although it’s important to remember that post-holiday blues won’t last forever, it can help to actively seek out activities that you enjoy to give yourself something to look forward to. Whether it’s a daily walk, a regular catch up with friends, an indulgent massage or a solo movie trip, find what brings you joy and do it!

    Book another holiday

We don’t mean you need to book a holiday for next week but thinking ahead to your next escape can be a great antidote if you’re feeling down after your holidays. Whether your next holiday is just a simple weekend away or won’t be for several months, you’ll be amazed at the difference it can make to your mood knowing that you have another escape to look forward to in the future.

    Give yoga a try

Yoga isn’t just for strength and flexibility – it also has a number of benefits when it comes to your mental health. With regular yoga practice, you’ll find that that you experience reduced stress levels, increased mindfulness and greater focus. If you feel like you need to get back into balance after the holidays, come along to a yoga class to reconnect your mind and body.
