Beginner Pilates Classes Melbourne

Pilates Reformer is a fantastic form of exercise to get involved in if you’re looking to increase strength, improve balance and posture, and increase your overall wellness. Starting at a beginner Pilates level you will be introduced to the basic principles of Pilates and find yourself performing simple exercises at a low resistance initially.

This Pilates for beginners guide will help you understand what Pilates reformer at Kaya Health Clubs is all about, and how you can get started today.

Pilates reformer was initially developed by Joseph Pilates for the rehabilitation of injured athletes and dancers, as a way to strengthen the deep layers of muscle in the back and abdominal region, known as the ‘core’. He developed a machine called the reformer, a bed-like apparatus that rolls back and forth within a frame, and uses a low-impact resistance system of springs that you pull or push against. Since then, the Pilates method has become the gold standard in core strengthening training and has evolved into an all-round strength and stability form of exercise. At Kaya, we practice traditional Pilates based around the principles and teachings of Joseph Pilates.

Increased Strength

Your muscles are worked hard with every exercise in Pilates, but without using any heavy weight plates or unstable free weights. All exercises are performed with the resistance from your spring load, which means you can really build up your muscular strength whilst only having to focus on your alignment and technique. The variety of exercises offered in each class will work all major muscle groups to increase your overall strength and tone and sculpt your body.
