Everyday Mindfulness For Your Busy Lifestyle

So many of us spend too much time worrying about the future rather than focussing on the present and this can be a difficult habit to break. Kaya Health Clubs offer authentic yoga at our Prahran and the Melbourne CBD locations and are passionate about teaching our members how to incorporate mindfulness into their everyday life. Let’s look at some easy ways that you can start introducing mindfulness practices into your lifestyle.

    Meditation

    Enjoy your ritual

The morning ritual is so often rushed where we jump out of bed and begin thinking about the day ahead straight away. Instead, take some time to focus on your morning ritual to bring you into the present. This could be something as simple taking a couple of minutes to focus on how your body is feeling before you get out of bed.

    Read with purpose

If you find yourself rushing through emails, books or documents during the day without really focussing, it’s the perfect opportunity to slow down and be mindful. Practice reading each word and pause to make sure you understand what you’re reading. Start small with a short email and go from there!

    Don’t rush the journey

Most of us spend at least some of the day in the car so try to be present during your journey rather than focussing on what you have to do at work or how late you are. Practice focussing on the movement of your car or the details of other vehicles around you.

    Focus on breath

Mindfulness practice doesn’t have to be time consuming and even a minute can make a huge difference to your day. Try to snatch small pockets of time here and there to simply sit (or stand) and focus on your breath. This could be at your desk, while waiting in line, or while you’re walking.

    Take time to listen

As you incorporate mindfulness into your day, practice actively listening rather than letting your mind wander or thinking about what you want to say next. This could be when talking to someone else or just listening to music on your own.

    Sit with your emotions

There may be days where you wake up feeling out of sorts or agitated. Instead of getting irritated at yourself for your mood, allow yourself to simply sit with your emotions and remember that this feeling won’t last forever. Simply acknowledging your emotions before continuing with your day can be a positive experience.

At Kaya Health Clubs, we offer a range of genuine yoga disciplines to enhance your mind-body connection and each class ends with guided meditation.
