Group Pilates Vs Private Instruction – Which Is Right for Me?

At Kaya Health Club, we offer a wide range of various group Pilates classes, as well as personalized instruction to fit your needs. To help you choose which is best for you, we have compiled a list of the benefits for both Group Pilates classes vs. Private Instruction, to help you find which option will best support you on your Pilates journey.

    Benefits of group Pilates classes:

    1)     Motivation boost

When you participate in a group Pilates Prahran session, everyone works together toward the same goal. You may even find that you end up working harder, as you’re encouraged by everyone around you. Not only does this give you a motivation boost, but you might also find it gives you a bit of friendly competition. When you’re able to see your classmates push themselves to try a more advanced pose, you might feel more inclined to give it a go also.

    2)     Social opportunities

One of the best parts about a group Pilates Prahran class is that it gives you the opportunity to meet other like-minded people in your community. Not to mention the fact that it’s simply fun to practice Pilates with people around! With music playing, and having others alongside you to share the struggles, the muscle burns and the little successes you achieve along the way, group Pilates can often feel more like a party than a workout!

    3)     Can bring a friend

They say time flies by when you’re having fun, and this is especially true if you’re working out with a buddy. It also helps to have a mate who will cheer you on throughout your Pilates practice, or keep you accountable when you don’t want to show up. Just when you think you can’t possibly do another leg circle, your pal is there to say you can—and you do.

    Benefits of Private Instruction:

    1)     Personalized Instruction

During a private Pilates Prahran class, the instructor is able to give you all of their attention. That means they’ll be able to focus on helping you get the correct form and posture down pat, and will also be able to create a workout that’s tailored to your individual needs.

    2)     Accelerate faster

Working with a private instructor allows you the opportunity to potentially progress at a quicker pace than what you would in a group class. Because of the individual attention, your instructor knows how far to push you and might even be able to push you to try more advanced exercises, something in which you might not have tried in a group setting without the extra one-on-one support.

    3)     Pregnancy support

Pilates Prahran is a great exercise for pregnant women because it is non-impact and allows you to benefit from the exercise without putting too much stress on your body. For pregnancy, private instruction is usually better than a group class, as your instructor can tailor a program that will best support you and the baby during each trimester. The Instructor will be there to support you throughout the different stages of your pregnancy and guide you into specific poses that will help you strengthen the muscles of your abdomen, pelvic floor, and back.
