At Kaya, we offer authentic Melbourne yoga and Pilates, along with a range of other group classes, and are passionate about working with our members so you look and feel your best. With that in mind, we’re sharing our top health and wellness tips to get you started in 2019!

Top 5 Health and Wellness Tips for 2019

    Drink more water:

Yes, we’ve all heard this one before but there are so many benefits to increasing your water intake. Proper hydration can help increase concentration and energy levels, improve physical performance, prevent headaches, help digestion and assist in weight management. If you find drinking water a little boring, try mixing it up with some lemon or lime, cucumber slices or fresh mint.

    Improve sleep quality:

If you’re not getting good quality sleep, you’re not functioning at your best – it’s as simple as that. Good quality sleep can lower blood pressure and prevent heart disease, boost the immune system, and reduce stress hormones. Make sleep a priority in 2019 by having a regular bed time, cutting out screen time at least an hour before bed, and making sure your bedroom is nice and dark.

    Eat real food:

What we mean by this is try to cut out processed food and focus on getting high quality nutrition through whole and minimally processed food. While the occasional treat is fine, incorporate as much fresh fruit and vegetables as possible into your diet and keep an eye out for fresh recipes which feature whole foods.

    Get your body moving:

It’s so important to look after your physical health but we don’t want you to drag yourself to the gym each day – instead, find something you actually enjoy! Group classes are a great way to get some additional guidance and motivation, and there are so many options for you to choose. From Pilates and yoga to boxing and spinning, experiment until you find the best fit!

    Find your mind-body connection:

It’s not just about getting fit – it’s also important that you find your inner balance and learn to calm your mind. If you’re new to this, yoga is a great place to start. Not only does it improve strength and flexibility, it also helps calm your mind and each session ends with meditation practice. Your teacher will guide you through the process so you learn to switch off.

If you’re ready to give yoga a try this year, come along to Kaya Health Clubs for a genuine yoga experience. We offer a range of authentic yoga disciplines, including Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, Yoga Nidra and meditation. Our passionate teachers will teach you traditional yoga techniques to help you find balance in your busy life.
