What You Need to Know About Circuit Training

If you’re looking for a fun, energetic way to keep fit, circuit training could be just what you need. Circuit training not only builds your strength, cardio and endurance but it also offers a constantly changing workout which is perfect if you’re easily bored! Sound good? Let’s take a look at what you need to know before you start your fitness circuit classes.

What You Need to Know About Circuit Training

    You’ll be doing HIIT Training:

Your circuit classes will incorporate HIIT training so you get faster results. HIIT training, or high intensity interval training, means that you work in intense bursts and push yourself before having a rest and moving on to the next station. This helps you burn through calories more quickly and improve general fitness levels.

You can be any fitness level:

Although circuit training can look intense, you don’t need to worry if you’ve just started exercising.  Any fitness level is able to participate in circuit training and your instructor will help by providing modifications of the various exercises if necessary. It’s all about having fun and working within your own limits.

You’ll rotate between a number of stations:

The thing that makes circuit training so dynamic is that, as the name suggests, you’ll be rotating between a number of different stations during the class. This challenges all of the muscles in your body and allows you to alternate between strength and cardio exercises. It also means that you have no chance of getting bored!

You need to listen to your body:

It’s great if you want to work as hard as you can during your circuit class. However, remember to listen to your body and take breaks where you need to. This is particularly the case if you’re recovering from an injury – let your instructor know and pay attention to how your body is coping. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break!

You can ask your instructor for help:

Remember that when you go along to circuit class, you’ll have an experienced instructor available to assist. If you feel like you’re not getting some of the exercises or you need some extra support, don’t be afraid to ask. Your instructor wants you to get the most out of your workout!
